Honest comparisons
How we think about comparisons: honestly.
Every tool on this page was made by people trying to help families, and every one of them does something better than we do. We say what that is, plainly, on each page, with a source for every claim, because you are choosing protection for your kids and you deserve a straight answer more than we deserve a sale. Here is what Everloom does and does not do; the comparisons cover the rest.
| Feature | Everloom | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $14.99 a month on the annual plan, or $17.99 month to month. One price for the whole family. | Most tools price per child or per device. We price per household, because that is how families actually live. |
| Free trial | 15 days | Long enough to see two Sunday digests before you pay anything. |
| How it protects | Per-device filtering on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android, and Windows, plus an optional one-time router change that covers TVs and consoles | Protection rides on each device, on any network. The router step is optional, not the foundation. |
| Always-on VPN required | No | We filter at the network layer, so there is no always-on app working in the background of anyone’s phone. |
| Reads your kid’s texts and DMs | Never | We see categories of activity, never content. That is a hard line, not a settings toggle. |
| Screenshots of your kid’s screen | Never | Nothing on a screen is ever captured. |
| What you see | Weekly patterns by category, plus a Sunday digest | Patterns over play-by-play. Enough to start a conversation, not enough to read a diary. |
| Coverage-drop alerts | Yes. If coverage drops on a device, you hear about it | Any protection can be removed by a determined teen. We tell you when coverage drops instead of pretending it cannot. |
| Weekly conversation guidance | Yes. Weekly guidance from your family’s category patterns, plus dinner-table questions | Weekly guidance from your family’s category patterns, plus dinner-table questions written fresh each week. |
| Works alongside Apple Screen Time and Google Family Link | Yes. They are free and good at limits; we cover what they cannot see | Keep using the free built-in tools for time limits. We cover the content side they cannot see. |
| Per-app minute tracking | No, on purpose. The built-in free tools do minutes well | The built-in free tools already do per-app minutes well, so we leave that job to them. |
